It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

I can almost take a deep breath after hitting “send” on one article, and submitting another to Darla Shine’s new website Family Survival 101. I’m going to offer advice to her readers on what to do in their gardens throughout the year. This first tidbit provides tips on planning for this year’s garden, something I’m already chomping at the bit to do as seed catalogs are coming in almost daily.

A couple of articles I’m writing in the next couple of weeks is one on beginning beekeeping and starting sprouts for the Tribune. There is a workshop at Montana State University at the end of January on keeping bees, and I’d like to inspire readers to take up this worthwhile hobby. And I hope to teach readers how to grow their own sprouts for winter salads and cooking. It’s one bit of green we can enjoy this time of year.

My pressing projects involve preparing for Christmas. We’re almost finished shopping for friends and family, but I still have lots of bread and cinnamon rolls to bake for friends. I also might have to make another batch of jam in order to have enough for everyone. Thankfully, I should have plenty of raspberries still in the freezer.

Merry Christmas to everyone!
