Crafts, cooking and cleaning

It’s a shock to think Christmas is less than a month away. I am so not ready. To top it off, I hate shopping. It takes a special alignment of the universe for me to step into Target, let alone the mall, so “dashing in” to grab a few gifts is a major feat. It’s on the radar, but just is not pressing… yet.
What is more important is writing a story on homemade Christmas gifts. I’m looking for a few local ladies who are doing more at home rather than hitting the stores. Plus, I need to finish my own projects for friends. The looming task is making a batch of spice soap, which needs at least 4-5 weeks to cure properly. If I don’t get cracking, it’ll have a special tingling sensation along with a terrific fragrance! I also have 3 different jams to finish for gifts. I thought I would have more time this season, but of course, it isn’t materializing.
Our food budget is shocking, despite eating wild game and having a fair amount frozen and canned from the garden. Another article I’m writing is creative meal planning to save money. I know a couple of ladies who buy groceries either once a month or once every three months. It’ll be interesting to gather a few tips to cut down on what goes out for food.
Despite a multitude of other projects, I’m determined to make my way through the house for a thorough cleaning over the next several weeks. The kitchen is priority #1, but every room is going to have attention this winter. Dust bunnies beware!
